Multidisciplinary artist and creative technologist
Lafiya Watson is a multidisciplinary artist and creative technologist who brings the creative vision to shape stories and the technical fluency to build them. She creates interactive XR experiences, especially for wearable devices like Specs, for which she is currently an ambassador. She collaborated on artist Koryn Wicks’ location-based AR piece “Ghosts in the Machine: The Old Zoo,” which won Excellence in Experience Design at FIVARS and was a 2025 IndieCade Finalist. Teaching and mentorship are central to Watson’s practice. She is currently an AR consultant for Agog and previously led the AR team at SEEN, deploying 20+ experiences and training staff. She has taught at Eyebeam and New Jersey City University and mentored developers at events like MIT Reality Hack and McGill XR Hackathon. Watson believes technology should be accessible to everyone, and that belief shapes how she teaches as well as the work she creates.
